BUDGETING, FUNDRAISING AND EVENTS
Taking pride in our home
S.A.S.P is still in the early stages of fundraising, building a full-scale budget and putting on events. This area of our work is crucial to the promotion of the project and gaining community support as well of securing funds and gifts. In addition to gaining local community support and donations, we also intend to apply for local, state, federal, and private grants. Our entire project budget is estimated to be about $3 million. This will vary slightly based on the extent of the park.
Our first community event was September 18th, 2021 where we hosted a “Tree of Life” ceremony. Solomon’s Garden donated and delivered an 18-foot California Native Sycamore tree valued at $850 to downtown Sonora’s Courthouse Park for our team to plant. We invited the community to gather, celebrate and learn more about our project. The planting of this tree represents the new life that our park will bring to our community.
In the next few months, we will hold several competitions at the local skate park to raise funds and promoting the new park. We will offer prizes, trophy’s, and merch that have been donated by local organizations. Live music, vendors and local food will be available as well as a live auctions to fundraise for the project. The local Sonora Police and Tuolumne Sheriff’s office will be joining us for some of these events.
